This past week, Mark had the pleasure of shooting Kendall and Travis’ engagement photos! The engagement session took place at King Estate Winery, located at 80854 Territorial Hwy Eugene, OR 97405.
King Estate is always a great location to shoot engagement photos because of its regal landscaping and rich architecture. Also, aside from the great views and backdrops, King Estate’s staff is very welcoming and allows couples and their wedding/engagement photographer to roam the grounds and explore many “behind the scenes” areas of the winery. The couple and Mark were able to meander around the Winery, making their way through the South Tower, Barrel Room and Fermentation Wing. Every time Mark has shot here, he always manages to get new and creative shots of his clients and is able to capture their personalities.
Kendall and Travis met in a very unique way. Not every couple can say they share the same tale and their engagement session location played a part in that.
Kendall’s identical twin sister, Katherine, worked out at King Estate during the early morning shifts. On Fridays, Travis would go to King Estate in the morning to work on their grease traps. One day, he saw Katherine and asked one of her co-workers, who he knew, if Katherine was a new employee. The coworker said yes and asked if Travis wanted her number. Travis waited for a few weeks then agreed to get her information. When the coworker approached Katherine, she informed her that she was already in a relationship, but that she had a twin sister that she could give Travis’ number to. Once Katherine gave Kendall his number, Kendall texted him and they started talking more and more. After a month they went out on their first date. About a year later, Travis proposed and they are engaged to be married this October 12, 2013 at Deep Woods Event Center, located at 89980 Territorial Hwy, Elmira, OR 97437.
Kendall and Travis had been talking seriously about marriage for a few months when they planned a vacation to California together. Kendall thought he might do it there, but as each day passed, there was no ring, no proposal. Then, on November 9th, after about a week of being home from the trip, Travis surprised her at work and popped the big question!
This rustic doorway shot, shown above, made an amazing backdrop. The couple’s blue jean, white shirt apparel made for a fresh look and a good contrast against the otherwise vintage textures. We love Kendall’s chiche, black blazer and nude heels. Take notes ladies! Kendall’s styling in this shoot is great for engagement photos because it’s timeless and classy.
Although adventurous engagement photos can be very fun, it’s always nice to get those shots that really highlight the sweet moments. Mark does a great job at both styles of engagement photography. Below, against this simple backdrop, Mark captures the couple’s admiration and love for one another.
Mark snapped a few shots of the couple outside of the South Tower, before heading inside.
This incredible shot was taken in one of King Estate’s Barrel Rooms. The lighting and large barrels in the photo are breathtaking and magical.
When asked, Kendall said working with Mark was a blast! She said, “Both him and his photography team were hilarious and comfortable to be around. I wish the day could have gone longer! And the photos turned out great.”
The beige pebble path, clean cut hedges and wine barrels create such an elegant setting for engagement pictures. We love this shot Mark got of Kendall and Travis walking through the South Tower Courtyard.
When asked what her favorite thing about her and her fiancé as a couple was, Kendall replied, “We can truly laugh with each other and have a great time. We can also have deep and serious talks and we understand each other very well. We both cherish being a traditional couple and we share the same faith.” And with an answer like that, pictures like this and a story like theirs, who needs better proof that this couple is going to stand the tests of time!
Mark had a great time shooting this couple’s engagement photos out at King Estate Winery.
One of his favorite seasons to shoot Oregon wedding photography is the fall! He is very much looking forward to shooting their big day out at Deep Woods in October.
